Discover the Story Behind Hobe’s Country Ham
We are proud to provide our customers with the best old-fashioned country ham!
At Hobe’s Country Ham, we don’t just make country ham. Country ham is our way of life. And it has been that way, in North Carolina & surrounding states, for almost 50 years since Hobert Gambill started curing his first ham. Our products, and our brand promise, have been established through hard work & dedication to handcrafting country hams with the truest & most authentic country ham flavor for all who enjoy this traditional product. We still salt cure, age for over 90 days, and individually check each of our hams before they are available to make it to your table. So, if you have a craving that only country ham will cure, look for Hobe’s Country Ham at your local retailer or anywhere country ham is served.
Our History
Hobe’s Country Ham is nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina! Our story began with Hobert Gambill, who started out as a USDA inspector at Holly Farms. Hobert’s passion for the art of curing hams, rooted in cherished family traditions, inspired him to turn his dream into a business in 1973. In his first year, he cured around 2,000 hams, selling his tasty hams to friends, families, and local restaurants in the community. Thanks to his hard work and dedication, Hobe’s continued to grow. Today, we serve retailers and food service customers throughout the Southeast. Hobe’s operations are still managed by the third generation, and we are committed to bringing you the finest, good old-fashioned country ham and carrying on our family tradition.
