Ham and mustard are the perfect pair. If you’re looking for a way to add a little pizazz to your country ham, try out this recipe for creamy mustard sauce. You probably already have most of these ingredients on hand, and all it takes is a few minutes to whip up this creamy, delicious sauce. Add it to any of our country ham products for a delicious meal your family won’t soon forget!

Creamy Mustard Sauce

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 20 minutes


1 Tablespoon of butter

2 ounces of mushrooms, chopped

3 cloves of garlic, minced

1½ cups of heavy cream

¾ cup of Dijon mustard

½ teaspoon of thyme

½ teaspoon of black pepper

½ teaspoon of salt

¼ teaspoon of paprika stalks of chives, chopped


Heat up a medium saucepan with butter at medium heat. Add in the mushrooms and garlic. Cook until mushrooms are soft and garlic is very fragrant. Pour in the cream and mustard. Mix to combine well. Once sauce starts to bubble, add in the thyme, pepper, salt, and paprika. Keep at medium heat and stir frequently to reduce sauce until it thickens. Once the sauce has thickened, add in the chives. Serve sauce hot or at room temperature with prepared cooked country ham. Keep covered if possible to reduce curdling. Enjoy!
