Storing Your Country Ham – Shelf Stable Product

You do not need to refrigerate our vacuum-packaged products as long as you do not break the seal. Refer to the “best by” date stamped on the package for best quality. However, once the vacuum seal is broken, refrigeration is necessary. The ham should be consumed within a week or frozen for longer storage.

Cooking

If country ham is too salty for you, for a milder flavor, we recommend you soak it in equal parts of carbonated beverage (cola) and water for approximately 30 minutes before cooking. *Apple juice can also be used.

Pan Frying

Wait to trim any excess fat from your ham slices after frying. Add a small amount of water and cola to your skillet (optional), and place your ham slice in the skillet. Cook slowly on medium-high heat. Turn slices frequently over the next 4-8 minutes. Do not over-fry your ham for the best result. View recipe
